Position Summary
The Senior Manager – Cloud Management is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise cloud environments with a strong emphasis on Linux-based systems. This role combines deep technical expertise in cloud platforms and Linux administration with leadership skills to ensure secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud operations. The position drives cloud adoption, automation, and optimization initiatives aligned with organizational goals and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Strategy & Operations
- Lead cloud infrastructure operations across AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments.
- Design and implement cloud architecture for scalability, security, and high availability.
- Manage Linux-based systems in cloud and on-prem environments, including patching, performance tuning, and automation.
- Drive Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) adoption using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Oversee containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) for application deployments.
Security & Compliance
- Implement cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001).
- Collaborate with InfoSec on vulnerability management, identity and access controls, and incident response.
- Deploy and monitor cloud-native security tools and SIEM solutions.
Automation & DevOps Enablement
- Champion automation for provisioning, monitoring, and scaling cloud resources.
- Integrate CI/CD pipelines for cloud deployments using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
- Optimize cost and performance through proactive monitoring and resource management.
People Management & Team Development
- Lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers and Linux administrators.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Budget & Vendor Management
- Manage cloud spend and optimize cost through reserved instances, autoscaling, and vendor negotiations.
- Evaluate and manage relationships with cloud service providers and third-party vendors.
Strategic Planning & Innovation
- Drive cloud modernization initiatives and migration strategies.
- Identify opportunities for automation, AI-driven operations, and FinOps practices
Standard Tools & Platforms:
- Cloud: AWS, Azure, GCP
- Linux: RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu
- Microsoft: Windows OS, O365, AD, Azure AD, Entra, Intune
- Automation: Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation
- Containers: Docker, Kubernetes
- Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch
- Security: SIEM, IAM, DLP tools
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Uptime and availability of cloud services
- Cost optimization and budget adherence
- Security compliance and audit success rate
- Deployment speed and automation coverage
- Team engagement and retention metrics
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 12+ years of progressive IT experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles
- 5+ years in cloud and Linux administration
- Strong hands-on expertise in AWS/Azure and Linux systems
- Proficiency in automation tools (Terraform, Ansible) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Certifications preferred: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, RHCE, CKA
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Microsoft 365 administration
- Windows Server & Active Directory
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex IT environments
